Founded in 1982, Blue Ribbon Schools is a U.S. Department of Education program that recognizes public and private elementary, middle, and high schools where students perform at very high levels or where exemplary progress has been made toward closing achievement gaps among subpopulations while maintaining high achievement levels among all students.

Launched by GreatSchools, the leading nonprofit provider of trusted school information, the 2019 College Success Award recognizes 1,722 schools in 25 states. Award-winning schools have a successful track record of graduating students who later enroll in two- or four-year college, are ready for college-level coursework, and persist on to their second year, according to available data from each state.

The Texas School Guide and Children at Risk nonprofit organizations named Jimmy Carter a “Best High School in the Rio Grande Valley.” Jimmy Carter placed 2nd in Top RGV Schools in 2018 and 2019 and was given an A+ rating for the second consecutive time. In 2018, Jimmy Carter attained the Gold Ribbon School Award. Gold Ribbon Schools have 75% or more of their student body in economically disadvantaged circumstances and schools receive an “A” or “B” in the annual Texas School Guide rankings.

Recognition by Educational Results Partnership (ERP) and the Institute for Productivity in Education for demonstrating consistent higher levels of student academic achievement, improvement over time, and reduction in achievement gaps. The Honor Roll recognition also includes college readiness in students.

to Jimmy Carter Early College High School which was named to the 2023 and 2024 AP School Honor Roll! The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools who AP program are delivering results and broadening access for students.
Schools can earn the Honor Roll recognition annually based on their ability to increase their school’s college-going culture, to provide opportunities for students to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness. Jimmy Carter Early College High School is a Bronze member of the Honor Roll!
